Small Guest List, Big Moments: Nicole & Devon’s Intimate Wedding at Secrets Royal Beach
Some weddings are measured by the size of the party. Others are measured by how close everyone stands. At Nicole and Devon’s wedding, everyone stood close: family and friends near enough to hear every word of the vows, to share every hug and to feel the music on the sand.
They were married at Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana on September 5, 2026, and our photographer Carlos followed their day from the quiet morning details to the last dance under the string lights.
Why an Intimate Wedding Works So Well in Punta Cana
A smaller guest list changes the whole feel of a destination wedding. There is time to talk to every guest, no rush between moments and room for the two of you to actually take in your day.
Nicole and Devon chose a garden ceremony among palm trees, with a thatched-roof palapa in view, then moved to the shoreline for sunset portraits and a reception on the sand. It gave them three different settings on one property, and it worked beautifully for a close group.

Getting Ready: Soft Blue, White Roses and a Gown by the Mirror
Nicole’s morning began with the details: two rings resting on a card marked “my vows,” her lace gown hanging by a mirror, and a bouquet of white roses and greenery.
She got ready in a white pajama set, and her bridesmaids wore soft blue satin ones. They gathered on the lawn to laugh, pose with the bouquet and raise champagne glasses to the day ahead.
Back inside, loved ones helped her into the gown, fastening the buttons down the back and settling her veil. She stood by the window in the soft light, ready.
A First Look With Her Father
A few minutes before the ceremony, Nicole’s father stood on the path in a navy suit, facing away. Nicole came up behind him, and he turned and saw her in her gown for the first time. Then they walked the path together, toward the ceremony.
It was a small, private moment, and in an intimate wedding, moments like this stand out even more.

The Ceremony: Vows Under a Pampas Arch
The ceremony space was simple and warm: a wooden arch dressed in pampas grass and dried florals, a rich mahogany table and wooden chairs set in rows along a pale stone aisle. Devon, in a tan double-breasted suit with a white rose boutonniere, waited beside his groomsmen.
When Nicole’s father brought her down the aisle, he placed her hand in Devon’s. They held hands through the vows, with the veil lifting gently in the breeze. After the ring exchange, they kissed, and Devon dipped her at the end of the aisle while their guests threw confetti and cheered.
Family and Friends After the Ceremony
An intimate wedding means every hug counts. Right after the ceremony, Nicole and Devon spent time with the people closest to them: hugs with parents, family portraits on the lawn and group photos with the bridal party in soft blue and tan. We kept the groupings organized so they could get back to their guests quickly.
Sunset Portraits on the Beach
When the light turned golden, Nicole and Devon walked to the beach. We photographed them as the sky shifted from blue to pink behind the palms, with the white sand glowing under their feet. They held hands, kissed, laughed and danced a little, ending the session with a silhouette against the last color of the sky.
The Reception: String Lights on the Sand
The reception was set directly on the beach. A long wooden table stretched across the sand under rows of round string lights, with pampas grass and dried florals along the center. A pampas arch with a soft neon sign stood nearby, and a wooden backdrop framed the sweetheart table.
There were toasts at the sweetheart table, and the couple cut their cake at a mahogany table with a cold spark fountain glowing beside it. Then came the first dance on a white dance floor under the lights, followed by a father-daughter dance. The party filled the floor from there, and the couple dipped for a kiss under the pampas arch.
As the night went on, the party moved to the sand for a fire show. Performers with flaming torches and a fire frame circled Nicole and Devon as they shared one last dip and kiss in the glow, barefoot on the beach, to the cheers of their guests.
Planning Tips for an Intimate Punta Cana Wedding
Use your small guest list to your advantage. Plan time with every guest, since you will not be rushing between tables.
Mix your settings. A garden ceremony, beach portraits and a sand reception can all happen on one property.
Consider a first look with a parent. It gives you a private moment before the ceremony.
Plan sunset portraits. Our Punta Cana wedding timeline guide shows how to fit them in: https://wbastudio.com/blog/punta-cana-wedding-timeline-guide
Gather your details in one place. Rings, vow cards and the gown on a hanger all photograph beautifully.
