Getting Married at Secrets Royal Beach, Punta Cana

By WBA Studio · Punta Cana Wedding Photography & Film · Updated August 2026

Secrets Royal Beach is one of the most requested wedding venues we shoot in Punta Cana, and it's easy to see why. Oceanfront ceremony sites, a resort layout built for both intimate and larger celebrations, and light that photographs beautifully from morning through sunset. We recently shot Brianna and Joshua's wedding here, and their day is a good example of what this Punta Cana venue actually delivers.

Ceremony Locations at Secrets Royal Beach

Secrets Royal Beach offers a handful of ceremony setups, from a beachfront gazebo steps from the water to garden and terrace spaces further into the property. The beachfront option is the most requested at this Punta Cana resort, and for good reason, the backdrop needs almost no additional decor to feel complete.

For Brianna and Joshua, the beachfront ceremony meant guests seated with the ocean directly behind the altar, no obstructions, no filler landscaping, just water and sky.

Secrets Royal Beach has both indoor and open-air reception venues, which matters more than couples usually expect when they're booking a destination wedding sight unseen. An open-air space gives you that breezy, tropical reception feel, while the indoor ballroom options offer more control over lighting and weather, useful during rainy season months.

What the Light Does at Secrets Royal Beach

For photography specifically, this venue has a few standout advantages. The beachfront ceremony spot faces a direction that gives soft, even light through most of the afternoon, and the golden hour window along the shoreline is one of the best in Punta Cana for portraits.

Photography Tips for a Secrets Royal Beach Wedding

Book your ceremony time with golden hour in mind. Since the beachfront faces a favorable direction for light, timing your ceremony an hour and a half before sunset gives you the best window for portraits afterward.

Ask about backup indoor spaces early. Rainy season in Punta Cana runs June through November, and knowing your indoor reception option in advance means no last-minute scrambling.

Plan a few minutes for beach portraits right after the ceremony. The stretch of shoreline near the ceremony site is some of the best light on the whole property, and it's easiest to use it before guests move toward cocktail hour.

Good to Know Before You Book

Guest capacity varies significantly by ceremony and reception location, confirm numbers early if you have a larger guest list.

Vendor policies differ by resort. Confirm whether outside photographers are permitted, and what documentation they need in advance.

Peak season means peak booking. Popular ceremony spots and prime time slots, especially golden hour, fill up months ahead for Secrets Royal Beach weddings.

A Real Wedding at Secrets Royal Beach

Brianna and Joshua's wedding brought all of this together, a beachfront ceremony under a gold geometric arch, portraits along the shoreline as the sky turned soft shades of pink, and a reception that carried well into the night under string lights and paper lanterns. The best moment of the whole gallery came after dark, when Joshua swept Brianna off her feet mid-dance, string lights overhead, their wedding party cheering around them on the sand. It's the kind of unscripted moment that sums up why this venue works so well for both ceremony and celebration.
