Some wedding days announce themselves the moment they begin. Sierra and Teigen's did, in the quiet second before their first look, when neither of them could quite hold back the tears.

They chose Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa in Uvero Alto for their destination wedding, a day that moved from an emotional garden first look, to vows exchanged beside a reflecting pool under a striking modern gazebo, to a reception that danced late into the night under string lights.

Why Couples Love Getting Married at Dreams Onyx

Dreams Onyx sits in Uvero Alto, the calmer, more secluded stretch of Punta Cana's coastline, with a little more breathing room than the busier resort corridors.

What sets it apart architecturally is its striking modern gazebo, angular, covered, and framed by a long reflecting pool with fountains on either side. It's a completely different feel from a beach ceremony, more sculptural, more dramatic, and it photographs beautifully against Uvero Alto's palms and gardens.

The Morning: Getting Ready

The morning had an easy, sun-drenched energy. Teigen's groomsmen posed together under the palms in matching tan suits, sunglasses on, already laughing. Sierra's bouquet, white roses with natural greenery, sat beside a gold-accented flat lay of her invitation and rings.

She wore her hair swept back beneath a delicate tiara, a detail that gave her whole look a touch of quiet romance.

A First Look to Remember

This is the moment that defines their whole wedding story.

On a stretch of green lawn framed by the resort's gardens, Sierra walked up behind Teigen for their first look, and what followed wasn't posed or held back. He wiped his eyes. She laughed through tears of her own. They held onto each other for a long moment before either of them said a word.

It's the kind of raw, unscripted emotion that no amount of planning can create, and it's exactly why we love photographing first looks. You simply cannot fake this.

The Ceremony

Sierra and Teigen said their vows under Dreams Onyx's striking angular gazebo, walking the long aisle beside a reflecting pool lined with fountains, guests seated in soft sage, blush, and cream on either side.

It's a ceremony setting unlike any beach wedding, architectural, symmetrical, almost cinematic, and it gave their vows a sense of quiet grandeur.

The Portraits

Afterward, we found a quiet corner of the gardens for portraits, Sierra's cathedral veil settling into the grass, her tiara catching the light, Teigen's forehead pressed to hers. These are the images that live on for decades, the quiet ones, taken just after everything changes.

The Celebration

As the sun went down, the party moved to a reception space strung with warm bistro lights beneath a wood-beamed roof. Sierra and Teigen made their entrance to a hallway of raised hands and cheering bridesmaids in blush gowns, and the energy never let up from there.

Speeches at the sweetheart table, dinner beneath a low centerpiece of white roses, and a dance floor that filled instantly and stayed that way all night. It was warm, loud in all the right ways, and completely theirs.

• Consider a first look. If Sierra and Teigen's is any indication, it's often the most emotional moment of the entire day, don't skip it for the sake of tradition alone.

• Use the reflecting pool. The gazebo and pool combination is one of the most striking ceremony backdrops in Punta Cana. Ask your coordinator about timing it for the best light.

• Book your photographer early. The best destination photographers get reserved 12 to 18 months out.

• Time your ceremony around the light. Start about an hour and a half before sunset so there's time for the ceremony and portraits while the light is still beautiful.
