Before the first look, before the music, before a single guest takes a seat, a wedding day already exists in small things. A ring box resting on a windowsill. A pair of shoes set down just so. An invitation with two names on it, waiting.

These are the details most couples forget to ask about, and the ones they treasure years later. At Joshua and Falantena’s wedding at Dreams Onyx Punta Cana on August 29, 2026, our photographer Carlos captured them beautifully.

Why Wedding Details Matter in Destination Photography

At a destination wedding, every piece of your day was chosen, packed and carried to the Caribbean. The pearl hair piece made the flight. The invitation suite was planned months ahead. Detail photos preserve those choices, and they tell the story of your day without a single face in the frame.

The Groom’s Details: Calm Before the Ceremony

Joshua’s morning began with the quiet pieces: brown leather shoes, a navy ring box holding the ring, a white rose boutonniere and his tan suit hanging by a window, with palm trees swaying outside. That window light made the suit look as relaxed as the day itself.

What we look for: shoes, rings, boutonniere, cufflinks, watch, and the suit or jacket styled in good natural light.

The Bride’s Details: Pearls, Paper and Petals

Falantena’s details carried a softer story. A pearl-and-crystal hair piece. Pearl-detail shoes. A feather “BRIDE” fan. Her perfume. A stationery suite with an invitation printed with their names. A bouquet of white roses. The gown, hung against a textured wall so the fabric and lace could be seen up close.

What we look for: the dress, veil, shoes, jewelry, hair accessories, perfume, bouquet, stationery, and any personal or sentimental item you bring.

The Ceremony Setup: A Petal-Lined Beach Aisle

By the time guests arrived, the ceremony space was ready: a white petal aisle edged with white and green florals, white chairs in rows, and the beach and palm trees as the backdrop. Carlos photographed the setup before guests arrived, while the space was untouched.

How to Prepare Your Wedding Details for Photos

  • Gather everything in one place the night before: rings, invitations, jewelry, shoes, perfume and any keepsake.

  • Bring your stationery. One printed invitation or menu is enough.

  • Pack your rings in an easy-to-reach box, not loose in a bag.

  • Hang your dress and suit where your photographer can reach them, ideally near a window.

  • Tell your photographer about meaningful items, like a family heirloom or a handwritten note.

  • Plan time for details. They are usually photographed first, during getting ready. Our timeline guide shows where that fits in your day: https://wbastudio.com/blog/punta-cana-wedding-timeline-guide
